ACE Academy has created an online platform dedicated to empowering Black educators by providing resources, materials, employment opportunities, and evidence-based practices.

Mission

The platform aims to foster a supportive community, facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing among educators committed to addressing the unique challenges and promoting the success of students of color.

Black educators face a number of challenges in the classroom, including:

  • Lack of access to high-quality resources and materials that are culturally relevant to their students

  • Isolation and lack of support/mentoring from other BIPOC educators

  • Resistance from colleagues and administrators to teaching about race and racism

Target Audience

For all Black educators/academic professionals/or soon to be educators, regardless of their grade level, subject area, or experience level.

Submissions

ACE is looking for Black educators who are willing to share curriculum, lesson plans, and other relevant information with other Black educators who are looking to better support their students of color.

We are looking for materials and items relevant to black history, literature, STEM, mental health, and culture for a Black educators to have when teaching students of color to better support them, such as:

  • lesson plans (ex. plan for 1 entire lesson in the given subject matter)

  • evidence based practices (ex. PBIS, SEL, CRT)

  • teaching tools (ex. The African American History Archive, Blackpast.org)

  • employment opportunities (ex. schools/programs hiring aspiring or current black educators)

  • educators looking to/for mentorship

  • articles/research/data (ex. Journal of African American Males in Education)

Objectives

Resource Centralization: Create a user-friendly, centralized online platform offering a diverse array of resources, tools, and materials aligned with the needs of students of color and Black educators.

Community Collaboration: Foster a dynamic community by encouraging educators to share successful teaching practices, strategies, and resources to support the diverse learning needs of students of color

Professional Development: Provide opportunities for professional growth by sharing the BEI’s workshops, events, safe spaces and discussions on culturally responsive teaching, and equity in education.

Support Network: Establish a supportive environment where Black educators can seek advice, mentorship, and guidance from experienced peers and experts in the field.

Evidence-Based Practices: Curate and promote evidence-based approaches, ensuring that all shared resources and strategies are grounded in research and proven to be effective for Black students.
