ACE hopes to be a thought leader in the D&I space. Currently they are active in the DEI environment through intentional hiring and recruitment. In 2019, 90% of ACE’s staff were Black Males, with 100% identifying as people of color. ACE would like to create a safe space for Black males to show up as their authentic selves AND for black women to be honored in the space.

What are the top things that your organization does better than anyone else?

○      Bringing together Black educators to create an authentic community. ACE prioritizes and specializes in Black young men and black male educators. The organization provides a community for Black educators and young men to engage, network, learn from each other, share lived experiences and gain insight from each other. Stakeholders say that this community is unlike any they have ever experienced. The team and members are passionate and personally invested in driving the mission of the organization. ACE creates a clear and powerful mission that attracts students and adults- Growing Black Excellence.

○      Implementing a family model. ACE’s mission to build a community of Black leaders and provide them with educational and post-secondary development and networking opportunities is driven by their FAME model. The FAME model is based on meeting up in groups called huddles. It is a strategic method of networking that allows stakeholders authentic access to people they may not normally have access to. Within a huddle there are members in different stages of their lives and with different socioeconomic backgrounds.

○      Maintaining a high level of specificity and talent. Even though ACE is growing they are staying specific to their roots. They started with the intent to build a community of Black young men who would cultivate their innate excellence and they are staying the course.
